A.L. Rangarajan is the Program Manager – India (Strategy) at ILP since January 2009. He is involved in performing Pre-Funding Assessments (PFA), Interim and final Evaluations of ILP projects in different regions of India on behalf of ILP. He heads the ILP-India operations, advising ILP-India and ILP-US on strategic Program Management aspects. He is also deeply involved in providing inputs to ILP’s NGO partners, conducting partners’ meets to enhance the quality and working of these organizations. He had served as an Honorary Trustee of ILP-India Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2009. Rangarajan has over 25 years of experience in development work spanning grassroots action to top-level NGO coordination.
Rangarajan was the national coordinator at Rejuvenate India Movement (RIM) (www.rejuvenateindiamovement.org) from 2000 to 2012 where he coordinated the activities of work done by Samaj Shilpis and Fellows of RIM. His tasks also included liaison with pioneer institutions & movements across India that are part of the RIM network. He played a key role in providing planning, monitoring and evaluation support to several state units of RIM. He conceptualized, designed and anchored the relief and rehabilitation efforts of Tsunami-affected families in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu on behalf of RIM.
Some more his numerous accomplishments and roles include: Serving as an Honorary Treasurer of RIM since August 2011 and serving as an Honorary Trustee of NGO - Gandhi Darshan Kendra since 2000. He is also working as Non-Academia Member of Board of Studies of Department of Public Administration, University of Madras. He was an Advisory and drafting committee member of Tamil Nadu Voluntary Sector Policy from January 2009, part of Tamil Nadu Election Watch, an advisory committee member of NGO - Association for Rural Community Development (ARCOD), a Program Coordinator for EXNORA International on Livelihood Restoration of Tsunami victims across Tamil Nadu Coast, the Coordinator for Tamil Nadu State in the NGO - Gandhi Peace Centre for 7 years, has appeared on behalf of Charitable Institutions before Income tax Authorities on various aspects i.e. Registration, assessment, audit and hearing etc.
Rangarajan has also co-authored a Book entitled “In the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi: Life and writings of N. Krishnaswamy”, documented several development efforts, processes and published various documents as and when needed, made presentations at various forums relating to development work, quality education, human resource development, Corporate Social Responsibility, micro finance, disaster preparedness, micro enterprises etc.
Rangarajan is a post-graduate in Commerce and is a certified accountant. He completed a development management course covering many subjects of Social Sciences (Economics, Sociology, Political Science) and skills (Finance management, Accountancy & Computers).
