Summer Camp for children

(A report by volunteer Nischal Mothkuri)
(May 2009)

Congratulations All!

It is with immense pride and pleasure that I announce the successful conclusion of the Summer Camp, 2009 - first ever organized by ILP Hyderabad. I hope that these five weeks of camp has been a great experience for all of you. I am sure that we have all made a significant difference to the summer experience of the children involved.

On Saturday, May 30th 2009,  we did Mural paintings on the walls of ILP and thanks to Mayur, these paintings have brought life to ILP building. It was great fun with children and volunteers participating in the event. Some of the pictures have already been sent and more will be uploaded into a share soon. I recommend you to visit ILP office sometime to appreciate the art. We ended the Saturday session by giving a small treat to children.

During these five weeks, children apart from learning computer basics, yoga, breathing exercises, art, craft, dance, science experiments,Mathematics and English, have developed close relationships with the volunteers. The best part of the camp was when children didn’t want to leave the school on Saturday, the last day of the camp, and wanted us to spend more time. The fact that these children were requesting us volunteers to come to their schools and organize similar events once their classes begin is a testimony that it has been a hit with them. Personally, it has been a great learning experience and the memories of the camp will stay for a long time.
