On January 31st, 2015, ILP organized its Annual Benefit Dinner in Bangalore with nearly 150 guests in attendance. The program kicked off with a social hour followed by the cultural program. Dr. B. K. S. Varma showed his mastery of brush strokes and painted to the accompanying artists – Mr. AmitNadig on flute and Mr. Muthu Kumar on the tabla. Together, they enthralled us with the symphony of two artistic mediums where paint hit the canvas to the notes of soulful music. In 15 minutes, their jugalbandi produced two beautiful portraits that were auctioned as part of the proceedings. This was followed by a stunning dance performance – Dollu Kunitha - by the children of Sparsha Trust. Their thumping drums, acrobatics, and flawless choreography received a standing ovation from a spellbound audience. There was not a single person in the room who couldn’t feel every beat of their practice, hard work, and talent!
ILP then showcased its Multi-Dimensional Learning Space (MDLS) program. Pramod Sridaramurthy, Secretary of ILP, made a captivating presentation to provide a glimpse of our work, progress, achievements, and future plans for the MDLS program. The announcement of a partnership with the Government of Karnataka to roll out MDLS to cover 20,000 children in an entire Taluk next year drew a spirited round of appreciation. Mr. KalyanMohan, EVP, Cognizant Technology delivered the Keynote address for the evening highlighting how the current generation is wanting to give back to the community. Mr. Pawan Gupta, Director, Society for Integrated Development of Himalayas, talked about the richness of India’s traditional learning methods, and the importance of utilizing them for better education – especially for the children of rural India. Then the evening was capped off with a delicious dinner, where our guests caught up with familiar faces or met new ones, adding more energy to the evening.
A big THANK YOU to our patrons from the community and the industry for making this event a success. We hope to see many more join us at our dinner next year as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of ILP!
