ILP Launches Mobile Library at Hyderabad

ILP launched a pilot run of the mobile library in April 2015 in the humble auto rickshaw with a paid full time experienced librarian. At present there are 1500 books donated by various good samaritans, and categorized as per Hippocampus Reading Foundation classification. Currently, four schools are being covered every week catering to 200 children.

An impressive reach of 770 children was achieved in just two months including the summer camp. Plans are on to scale up with requisite infrastructure that includes a well-equipped mini-van with driver cum assistant librarian and a senior librarian this academic year. The vision is to expand the mobile library to multiple districts.

The vision is to expand the mobile library to multiple districts across the State of Telangana to fill the joy of reading in school children. We also intend to add low cost tablets and other devices to help bridge the digital literacy gap.
