Akshara Deeksha – Inculcating self-discipline in students
Akshara Deeksha, a pilot initiative that was kick-started with 140 students in Manigilla for a period of 41 days has come to a successful conclusion with amazing outcomes.
This initiative was launched to inculcate self-discipline in students to lay a strong foundation for their future.
After 41 days, the parents, teachers, headmaster and the students themselves are overjoyed on seeing the transformation.
At the beginning of the pilot the students were maintaining a diary of their daily activities and there has been a great improvement in terms of:
- Waking up early
- Studying diligently
- Active participation in extracurricular activities
- Overcoming stage fear
- Expressing gratitude
To ensure there is a reminder every single day, every kid planted a tree outside their home and are responsible for watering and nurturing the plant.
To inculcate a habit of helping lesser privileged people around or old people who are incapable of supporting themselves, the students were asked to keep aside a fistful of rice and lentils for 41 days.
It was amazing to see the students collecting 150 kgs in total which will be distributed to the needy.
All-in-all an extremely successful pilot which will now be implemented in other schools too.
As a befitting ending to the finale, students bowed and took blessings of their parents who have been very supportive of this project.
