Role overview:
The Karnataka Chapter Head is responsible for leading and managing the Operations of the Karnataka chapter of India Literacy Project (ILP), a non-profit on a mission to be the catalyst for 100% educated India. The Chapter Head will work closely with the Country Manager and the Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategies that align with the organization’s mission and goals.

What will your 2023-24 look like?
You would have led projects that would have.
- Trained 13,000+ teachers as Career Counsellors and helped 8L+ students create pathways to productive careers.
- Skilled 3L Students in ICT.
- Worked along with a consortium of Non-profits to transform 200+ Schools and Anganwadis as models for the state.
- Supported students’ learning in science using ILP’s science labs in 8500+ schools.
- Improved classroom engagement in 1500+ Schools through Digital and Experiential learning.
- Inculcated learning habits in children across 500+ schools through child-friendly libraries.
- Created/Upgraded learning aids for teachers and students with state-wide reach.
Strategy and Implementation
- Lead, plan, and project manage team workstreams with an appreciation of longer-term issues, ensuring plans complement and feed into the broader operational and strategic plans.
- Leverage the – multiplier effect: Work to identify overarching opportunities and solutions that may cut across multiple programmes.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable program results.
- Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategies for long-term growth and sustainability of the chapter.
People Management
- Excellent management skills and demonstrated ability to nurture staff and their professional development.
- Recruit, train, and manage staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of the chapter.
Program management, monitoring, and delivery
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports on program activities and outcomes.
- Suggest solutions on routine program implementation and create reports to alert appropriate officials and stakeholders for higher-level intervention and/or decisions. Ensure record of reports for easy reference and institutionalize lessons learned.
Financial Management
- Manage project budgets and ensure it meets the objectives set in the program.
- Ensure optimal usage of funds with a tight focus on financial prudence.
Networking and partnership building
- Demonstrated ability to build & maintain diverse networks with schools, government agencies, funders, corporations, & partner NGOs to expand the reach and impact.
To qualify as a strong contender for this prestigious role, you need to have:
- Strong knowledge of education policies and programs, specifically in underprivileged communities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in budgeting, fundraising, and event planning.
- Passion for education and a commitment to serving underprivileged communities.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Willingness to travel within the designated chapter as needed.
