India Literacy Project champions education as a lifelong journey starting in childhood. Partnering with NGOs and governments, ILP advances Early Childhood Education (ECE) in rural India through community-driven efforts, particularly engaging mothers.
While supporting all Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)—nutrition, health, preschool education, etc., ILP prioritizes ECE as the most critical gap in early development. To strengthen early learning environments, ILP has introduced a formalized first training program for Anganwadi teachers, equipping them with essential teaching and learning material. Additionally, regular refresher training programs are conducted for both Anganwadi teachers and helpers, ensuring sustained quality in early education practices.
Also, research shows that children learn best during key developmental phases—where early nurturing fosters growth, but structured stimulation through quality pre-primary education ensures holistic development and long-term success. ECE builds social, emotional, and cognitive skills, helping children:
Connect & collaborate—form healthy relationships
Overcome challenges—develop problem-solving resilience
Communicate clearly—listen, speak, and understand effectively
Excel academically—meet grade-level goals, reducing dropout risks
