To celebrate their 75th anniversary, Madras Institute of Technology, hosted a ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐ฒ-๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฝ ๐ผ๐ป ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ ๐ด๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น๐.
This program, sponsored by ILP andย Verizon, aimed to show these high schoolers why computer skills are important for the future.
The workshop kicked off with Professor K. Ravichandran, who spoke about how computer skills are valuable tools for shaping the world.
Professor Thanasekar welcomed everyone and explained the significance of C Programming โ it’s like the original language that many other programming languages are based on.
Professor Vinayaka Sundaram encouraged the students to keep learning and stay curious about technology.
The workshop wasn’t just lectures!
Theย ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ, including Ms. R.J Arti and Ms. B. Vijayalakshmi, along with the lab staff, created a program that balanced learning C Programming with hands-on practice on computers. The students enjoyed the lab sessions and showed a real passion for coding throughout the week.
A total of 35 students from GBHSS Porur, MMA GHSS Pallavaram, GHSS Movarasampettai, and TP GHSS Puzhuthivakkam participated in the workshop.
On the last day, all the students received certificates for completing the workshop from Professor Thanasekar and Mr. A.L. Rangarajan, CEOย India Literacy Project.
Mr. Rangarajan also talked about ILP’s efforts to help people all over India learn ICT skills, and his satisfaction in collaborating with MIT to offer this program to government school students in Tamil Nadu.
