ILP, in partnership with the Guru Krupa Foundation Inc, recently hosted a Science Fair at Government High Schools in Kattankulathur, Peramanur, and Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. This initiative, supported by SRM Institute of Science and Technology under its PRAGYA program, was a blend of science, innovation, and social responsibility, driven by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Centre for Electric Mobility.

The Science Fair had clear goals: to introduce IoT-based solutions for real-world challenges, train students in areas like health monitoring, smart irrigation, and assistive technologies, and spark scientific curiosity through hands-on learning.

The event brought science to life for students, with interactive IoT training sessions, engaging demonstrations, and fun activities. Each school received three custom IoT kits developed by SRMIST students: a Health Monitoring System, a Smart Irrigation System, and a Smart Stick for the Visually Challenged. The program was met with overwhelming appreciation from both the students and the faculty.

As a fitting conclusion, a hackathon will be held at SRM, where students will apply their newfound skills to solve real-world problems, fostering creativity and innovation.

This initiative wasn’t just about teaching technology—it was about inspiring the next generation of innovators to dream big and solve tomorrow’s challenges.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Guru Krupa Foundation Inc. for their steadfast support in making STEM education accessible and impactful for young learners. The participating schools are part of Namma School Namma Ooru Palli, a Government of Tamil Nadu initiative fostering community engagement and CSR partnerships to uplift government schools.
