A child’s first teacher is the mother
While India Literacy Project (ILP) is on a mission to be a catalyst for 100% literacy in India, ILP works hand-in-hand with Anganwadi teachers to educate a mother first across various Indian states.
Anganwadi teachers carry out a quick survey of mothers and children yearly once and provide health and nutrition education, and counseling on breastfeeding practices to mothers.
Anganwadi teachers also make home visits to educate mothers (in fact both parents) to enable them to play an effective role in the child’s growth and development with special emphasis on the newborn child to strengthen their foundational journey.
