Project Description
ILP works on Early Childhood Education programs to ensure that every child can experience a healthy, nurturing childhood and to foster an environment that creates a strong foundation of cognitive, social and emotional well-being.
In 2009, ILP started supporting a preschool initiative in 13 villages of Kalaburagi district, Karnataka. Working with our NGO partner (CDF), we gradually increased the scope of work to 158 villages and created a significant positive transformation in the preschools – improved attendance, better learning levels, and higher enrollment to primary schools. As a result of our program, last year, the Government signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding with ILP to strengthen the Early Childhood Education in 3,098 preschools covering 79,000 children in the entire district. All of this was possible through our persistent execution of an innovative training and capacity building program for the preschool staff, parents and community leaders.
This program has grown to cover 79,000 children in 3,098 preschools in Kalaburagi district!
